School children say hello
to solar energy
Students from the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj School, Bhosari visited Thermax energy house to get a firsthand experience of solar installations.
For the 43 children and their two teachers, the solar based cooking system installed in the office cafeteria was of special interest. Rahul Deshmane and Sarika Pillai from the Solar team demonstrated how cooking is done with steam from the parabolic troughs.
The children also visited the roof top solar photovoltaic panels and learnt how solar energy is being converted to electricity. Says Sampada Kulkarni, one of the teachers and a Thermax-TFI fellow, “Visits like these help children learn about the role that renewable energy can play in our daily lives.”
