The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) group of Thermax Power is expanding its client list as more industries outsource the function to focus on their core areas. The group is now servicing 13 captive plants comprising 19 units, doing O&M work accounting for 525 MW.
The Thermax O&M team manages fuel, water and conditioning chemicals that can critically affect power cost. Maintaining ambient air quality, a statutory requirement, is also part of the contract.
Its recent orders include O&M for an 80 MW captive power plant of Hindustan Zinc’s mining operations and for a captive plant of Sangam India, a spinning mill. Both Rajasthan based orders are to take care of O&M in power plants built by Thermax competitors. The Hindustan Zinc plant has a pulverised coal fired boiler and turbine, both supplied by BHEL.
