Our client, a large zinc manufacturer, uses a Thermax air pollution control system for treating and cleaning the tail gases from sulphuric acid plants of zinc smelters at three sites in Rajasthan.
The system removes the dioxides and trioxides of sulphur and sulphuric acid mist from the gases to meet the prescribed emission norms. The project interlinks air pollution control to the manufacturing process. While conventional sulphur dioxide scrubbers are lime or caustic soda based, the Thermax system uses zinc calcine as the scrubbing medium – the raw material used in the smelter.
Following the successful completion of this project, Thermax also retrofitted and revampd the company’s gas and air extraction system.
