Thermax is building a captive power plant for a major steel manufacturing plant. The 42.5 MW plant will be completed on an EPC basis for the blast furnace complex, part of the 4.2 million tons per year capacity expansion plan of the company.
The order includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply and commissioning of the captive power plant with boilers, turbines and balance of plant equipment. Thermax will supply three heat recovery boilers to generate 300 TPH of steam from blast furnace gas and also the water and waste water treatment plant.
Till date, Thermax Power has already commissioned over 900 MW of captive power capacity in the country. This order is a breakthrough project in integrated steel plants, up to now a preserve of the public sector.
