Thermax extended the life of a fertilizer major's water treatment system at Paradeep. The fertiliser co-operative had taken over the plant from another fertilizer manufacturer. A major portion of the demineraliser plant it inherited was in a state of disuse. Thermax retrofitted the deteriorating vessels and integrated them to the functional streams. The retrofitted system now has 200 m3/hour capacity, and it is fully automated.
Thermax has done other retrofit projects for another fertilizer manufacturer's water treatment system. It is also helping a large cement company retrofit and upgrade a reverse osmosis plant and improve the quality of its output at its facility in south India.
For such projects, Thermax undertakes comprehensive studies to identify design parameters - right from quality of water to the physical condition of existing system, involving engineering audits to identify gaps and solutions.
