Runathon of Hope: On the morning of 13th January 2019, 370 employees from Thermax woke up to a cause. At 5:45 am on a Sunday, they assembled at Nigdi, Pune to participate in the ‘Runathon of Hope’ organised by the Rotary Club for corporates; comprising half marathons ranging from 5 km to 21 km. In its ninth year, the theme chosen for the event was rural education.
Road Safety Awareness: Thermax Corporate Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team, in coordination with the students of Dnyandeep Vidayalaya organised a ‘Road Safety’ drive, around the vicinity of Thermax’s Chinchwad factory in Pune. A street-play was performed by the students to convey the consequences of not following traffic rules, and subsequently, they joined hands with the Thermax volunteers to distribute cards with the safety Dos and Don’ts to people in the area.
Blood Donation Camp: Thermax Foundation also conducts its annual Blood Donation Camp, organised every year in the memory of R.D. Aga; witnessing a large participation from over 730 employees across regional and area offices, manufacturing facilities and Pune locations.
Starting Thermax journey on a social note: The new batch of Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs), Graduate Apprentices (GAs) and Diploma Engineer Trainees (DETs) were given an experiential orientation towards corporate social responsibility during their induction programme in the month of July and September. They engaged in activities like preparing handmade study material sheets for slow learners, spending time at NGOs, and making eco-friendly items for sale of employees and giving the proceeds to NGOs.
Birdhouse to bring back the disappearing birds: Along with the NGO, ‘Give me Trees’, Thermax Delhi office participated in a CSR initiative of making birdhouses from unused bottles, boxes and balloons, supporting the NGO’s mission of reviving flora and fauna.
Plastic put to Use : Rudra Environmental Solutions is a social enterprise that is doing commendable work in this area by collecting over 25,000 kg of plastic per month and converting it to ‘polyfuel’. To create an awareness of this movement, a talk on the topic ‘Management of Plastic Waste’ was organised by our HSE team at the Thermax Energy House on 10th June by Mita Banerjee on behalf of the Rudra team. Employees were also encouraged to contribute their bit by bringing waste plastic from their homes in huge numbers and handing it over for disposal.
