A few common good practices adopted across all Akanksha schools, including the schools supported by Thermax Foundation, are teacher training on Socio-Emotional Ethical (SEE) learning skills, distribution of stationery kits to students, Junior KG admissions through the lottery system, vaccination drive for parents in the community, virtual celebrations of Yoga Day, commencement of the new academic year and farewell.
The School Project
Thermax Foundation is funding two schools run by the Akanksha Foundation - K. C. Thackeray Vidya Niketan English Medium School and Savitri Bai Phule English Medium School. The schools have continued to optimise the learning in the new normal through online classes and various initiatives.
Throughout the COVID period, the students have been studying online. A ‘digital citizenship’ initiative was introduced with their computer curriculum in both the schools. The focus has been to make the students responsible while they are online. Sessions on cyberbullying and media choices were also conducted.
Max Vax Vaccination drive: The Akanksha Foundation conducted a vaccination drive for parents in the community. Teachers and volunteers helped spread awareness and facilitated their vaccination.
In the vaccination drive held at the Thermax House by the Akanksha Foundation, a total of 118 alumni of Akanksha schools and its staff took the first dose of the vaccine in Pune.
