Potato Chips

Potato has nearly 70% water content. Upon frying, the water gets converted into low-pressure vapour which is released into the atmosphere using an induced draft fan in the chimney. Thermax’s ultra low pressure vapour absorption chiller utilizes this vapour to provide air conditioning in the production area which would otherwise require electricity. In addition to this, the condensate from the absorption chiller is used for washing raw potatoes in the plant resulting in zero water discharge.

To enhance efficiency in snack manufacturing, Thermax has employed a smart way of reusing waste heat from fryers. With millions of units of electricity saved, tons of CO2 emissions cut, and gallons of water saved, this is a “waste-to-wealth” project like nothing else.
